Synopsis
The story of The Nutcracker is loosely based on the E.T.A. Hoffmann fantasy story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, about a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King. After defeating the Mouse King, the Nutcracker Prince takes Clara through the Land of Snow and the Land of Sweets. In these lands, the pair are met with a celebration of dances, culminating in a dance by the Sugar Plum Fairy.
